I bought a splitter and extension cord to share my old NEMA 10-30 dryer outlet between my EV and the washer/dryer. It works, but am I playing with fire? How are others splitting limited outlets safely?

'Never run both at once' is the right instinct, but it relies on you (or whoever's home) remembering every single time — one missed evening where the dryer's heating element and the EV are both pulling load through that shared 30A breaker and you're at or over the trip point, best case. This is exactly the setup Article 625 is written to prevent — 625.44 wants EVSE on its own dedicated branch circuit, not sharing a circuit with another appliance through a splitter. A dedicated 240V circuit runs somewhere around $800-1500 depending on the run, and that's the actual fix here, not a better splitter.
