Apartment residents with non-Tesla EVs and plug-in hybrids often face two charging problems: they cannot install a permanent wall charger, and the nearest authorized outlet may be too far from their assigned parking space.

The WenStorm Apartment EV Charging Kit is made for vehicles with the larger, round five-pin charging port, technically known as J1772. It combines a 25 ft Level 1 portable charger with a 21 ft, 50A-rated J1772 extension cable, providing approximately 50 ft of combined charging reach from a compatible 120V outlet to the vehicle.

For the Larger, Round Five-Pin Charging Port: Choose this kit if your vehicle has the round charging inlet shown in the product photos. This connector is commonly called J1772 and is found on many Chevrolet, Ford, Hyundai, Kia, Volkswagen, BMW, Nissan, Toyota, Honda and other EVs and plug-in hybrids.

Check Your Vehicle Before Ordering: Charging ports can vary by model and model year, especially as manufacturers transition to new connector standards. Compare your vehicle’s charging port with the product photos instead of relying only on the vehicle brand.

Designed for Apartment Charging: A practical option for residents with permission to use a compatible outlet in a private garage, shared parking garage, assigned parking area or other approved charging location.

No Permanent Wall Charger Required: The portable charger connects directly to an existing compatible NEMA 5-15 outlet. No permanently mounted charging station is required, although electrical work may still be necessary if the property does not already have a suitable outlet and circuit.

Up to 50 FT of Combined Reach: The portable charger includes a 25 ft cable, and the vehicle-side extension adds another 21 ft. The additional length helps when the authorized outlet is located on a garage wall, support column or building exterior farther from the vehicle.

Plug Into a Compatible 120V Outlet: The integrated NEMA 5-15 plug connects to a properly installed, grounded household-style outlet on a circuit suitable for continuous EV charging. Charging current must remain within the limits of the outlet and circuit.

Designed for Overnight Top-Ups: Level 1 charging typically adds approximately 2–5 miles of range per hour. It is best suited for plug-in hybrids, shorter daily commutes, overnight top-ups and backup charging when a 240V charging setup is unavailable. Actual speed depends on the vehicle, battery temperature, outlet condition and available circuit capacity.

Purpose-Built Vehicle-Side Extension: The included extension connects between the portable charger’s round J1772 handle and the vehicle. It does not connect between the household outlet and charger.

No Household Extension Cord Needed: The EV-rated extension provides additional vehicle-side reach without daisy-chaining an ordinary household extension cord from the electrical outlet.

50A-Rated Extension With Level 1 Charging: The extension cable is rated for up to 50A, but it does not increase the charger’s output or turn 120V charging into Level 2 charging. Actual power remains limited by the portable charger, outlet, circuit and vehicle.

Safety Monitoring and Weather Resistance: The portable charger is ETL Listed and includes temperature monitoring designed to reduce or stop charging if unusual heat is detected. Its IP55-rated construction supports indoor and outdoor charging when the charger and connections are kept away from standing water.

Confirm Permission and Outlet Access: Obtain approval from the landlord, property manager, HOA or building owner before using a shared or property-owned outlet. Confirm whether electricity use, parking access or charging hours are subject to building rules.

Plan a Safe Cable Route: Measure the complete route between the outlet and vehicle before ordering. Do not run the cable through windows or doors where it could be pinched, across public walkways, down exterior walls or through areas where vehicles could drive over it.

Inspect the Outlet Before Charging: Do not use an outlet that is loose, damaged, discolored, wet or unusually warm. Ask a qualified electrician or building maintenance professional to inspect the outlet if its condition or circuit capacity is uncertain.

Easy to Store Between Charging Sessions: Coil the charger and extension cable after use and store them in a secure garage, closet or vehicle trunk. Do not leave the equipment where it could obstruct shared parking or pedestrian areas.

Not Sure Which Kit to Choose? Choose this version for the larger, round five-pin J1772 charging port. If your vehicle has the smaller, slim oval NACS port used by Tesla, choose the WenStorm Tesla/NACS Apartment EV Charging Kit instead.

Bundle Savings: $341.98—a 10% saving compared with the $379.98 combined individual price.
