Does charging an EV to 100% every night actually hurt the battery if I don’t drive much?
I’m still pretty new to EV ownership and I keep seeing conflicting advice about daily charging.
Most days I only use around 15–25% of my battery, so technically I could go several days between charges. Right now I usually plug in every night and have the charge limit set to 80%, but occasionally I bump it to 100% just so I don’t have to think about charging for a while.
Is there any meaningful difference for long-term battery health between charging to 80% every night versus charging to 100% less frequently?
I know battery chemistry probably matters, but I’m curious what people here actually do in real-world use and whether anyone has noticed noticeable degradation after a few years.
