One Portable Charger for Tesla and J1772 EVs: WenStorm Kit Unboxing
A Tesla in one parking space. A J1772 EV in the other. Buying a second car does not always mean buying a second charger.
Our NACS portable charger and NACS-to-J1772 adapter kit gives those two cars a charging setup they can share. The Tesla uses the charger's NACS connector directly; a compatible J1772 EV uses the included adapter. You charge one car at a time from a suitable NEMA 14-50 outlet.
We have also designed a new WenStorm box for the kit. Here is a closer look at the packaging, the two pieces inside, and how they fit into a two-EV household.
Can one portable charger charge a Tesla and a non-Tesla EV?

Yes—this kit supports compatible NACS AC and J1772 vehicles, one at a time. It combines a 32A NACS portable Level 2 charger with a NACS-to-J1772 AC adapter. The charger has a 25-foot cable and a fixed NEMA 14-50 plug for a suitable grounded 240V outlet.
Check each car's AC charging inlet and adapter guidance before ordering. This is home and destination charging equipment, not a Supercharger adapter.
First look: the new WenStorm box
The box gets its own moment in this unboxing. We wanted the first look at the kit to feel like WenStorm, before you even connect it to a car.
Open it: the portable charger is the main piece, and the adapter gives it a second vehicle connection. Both parts belong in the story because the adapter is what makes this bundle useful when your cars have different charging ports.
What is in the charging kit?
- WenStorm 32A NACS portable Level 2 charger: a 25-foot cable, a NACS vehicle connector and a fixed NEMA 14-50 wall plug.
- WenStorm NACS-to-J1772 adapter: connects the charger's NACS handle to a compatible J1772 vehicle for AC charging.

The bundle is listed in our store as the Universal Airbnb Host EV Charging Kit. You do not have to be an Airbnb host to use it. A household sharing charging between a Tesla and a J1772 EV is another reason to choose the same pairing.
The charger: 25 feet of cable, without the separate inline box

WenStorm integrates the charging electronics into the connector handle. There is no separate control box partway down the cable.
That is the detail to look for when you lift the charger out: a cable running between the wall plug and the charging handle, without another enclosure to position or pack. If you move it between home and a destination with a suitable outlet, that layout is part of its appeal.
Measure the actual route from your outlet to each car's charge port, allowing slack, to see whether the 25-foot cable reaches both parking spaces.
The adapter: the small piece that lets the other car use

The adapter accepts the charger's NACS handle at one end and presents a J1772 connector at the other. It changes the vehicle connection; you keep using the same charger and wall outlet.
Its direction matters: NACS charger to J1772 car. It is not the reverse adapter used to connect a J1772 charger to a Tesla, and it is not for DC fast charging.
One kit, two ways to conn
| Your car's AC charging inlet | Connection with this kit |
|---|---|
| Compatible NACS AC inlet, including Tesla vehicles with this inlet | NEMA 14-50 outlet → WenStorm NACS portable charger → car |
| Compatible J1772 inlet | NEMA 14-50 outlet → WenStorm NACS portable charger → included NACS-to-J1772 adapter → car |

Check the port rather than relying on the badge. A non-Tesla EV may have NACS or J1772, depending on its model and year. The relevant question is which inlet it uses for AC charging and whether the manufacturer permits this adapter setup.
Follow the charger, adapter and vehicle instructions for connecting and disconnecting. Confirm that the car shows an active charging session before leaving it to charge.
What sharing one charger looks like at home
Say the Tesla needs a top-up tonight and the J1772 EV can wait until tomorrow. Or one car gets home early enough to charge before you switch the cable to the other. If your driving and parking schedules allow it, one kit can cover both routines.
It does not charge two cars simultaneously. If both cars regularly need a substantial recharge during the same overnight window, check whether taking turns gives each enough time. Two connectors do not create two charging outputs.
The same flexibility can help when a friend visits in a compatible J1772 EV or when you change cars. You already have the J1772 side covered.
Before you buy: the outlet and charging speed
This kit plugs into a properly installed, grounded 240V NEMA 14-50 outlet on a suitable circuit. If you already have one available for EV charging, you do not need to hardwire this charger. If you do not, electrical installation may still be needed.
The fixed plug does not connect directly to a standard 120V household outlet, a 14-30 or 10-30 dryer outlet, or a TT-30 campground outlet. Do not plan to adapt this charger to those outlets.
At 240V and its maximum 32A output, the charger provides approximately 7.7 kW of input power. Actual charging power depends on the vehicle and conditions. Adding the J1772 adapter does not raise the charger's 32A limit.
Both the charger and adapter carry WenStorm's two-year limited warranty.
Is this the right bundle for your garage?
Choose it if you need a portable setup for compatible NACS and J1772 cars, have a suitable NEMA 14-50 outlet, and are happy to charge the cars at different times.
If you only need one connector, a standalone portable charger may be enough. If you already own a suitable NACS AC charger, check whether the adapter alone meets your needs.
Two cars with different ports. One portable kit to share. See the WenStorm NACS charger and J1772 adapter bundle for current pricing and availability.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need two chargers if I own a Tesla and a J1772 EV?
Not necessarily. This kit lets compatible cars share one portable charger by using the NACS connector directly on one car and the included adapter on the J1772 car. You only need enough time to charge them separately.
Does the kit work with every electric car in the United States?
We describe it by the connections it supports: compatible NACS AC and J1772 vehicles. A matching connector alone is not a model-specific compatibility guarantee. Check your vehicle's charging instructions, inlet and adapter requirements.
Can this adapter charge a J1772 EV at a Tesla Supercharger?
No. The included adapter is for compatible AC charging. It must not be used with a Tesla Supercharger or another DC fast charger.
Is the kit only for Airbnb hosts?
No. Although the store listing uses the Airbnb Host Kit name, the same charger-and-adapter pairing can serve a household with compatible NACS and J1772 vehicles.
